Lady Luck

I am currently sat here in my lounge in my house on my own. I hate being here alone. My family has a big house and it is very weird being here without noise. I am one of 5 children- no noise is just weird.

So I've named this little post 'Lady Luck' and this is because I had the luckiest week probably of my life last week, in a very small way. I had a strong urge to put money on the Lotto- we never do this as we are religious Euro Millions players, but I proceeded and whacked on 1 line of lucky dip, and voilà, we won £25. This is the biggest amount of money we have ever won on the lottery, ever since we started playing when I was 16 (I'm just about to turn 22 so it's been a while). Yes this probably seems like a waste of money of £32 a month for 2 lines of the same numbers but like the lotto says you have to be in it to win it. I am a very paranoid person and I don't like the idea of missing games that could make us dreamy millionairesI should probably proceeded this by saying we had a win streak of a couple of quid for 2 games and that was my motivation and also seeing one of them lotto adverts with Katie Price in ha and was again beyond lucky and so cool for me.

My biggest luck this week was winning a Guerlain bronzer in a competition ran by A Model Recommends Ruth Crilly and I could have completely wet myself here. I never win anything, I enter so many competitions because why the fuck not and me and my hilarious email address won. Who knew that was possible. I will post a review on this when I have had a proper play and can be bothered to put make up on.

Isn't this just fucking delicious?

I think what I am trying to say is in the worst way possible that luck can come in all shapes and sizes. Like you never know what a little bit of luck, fate or whatever it is that can turn up to better your life. I feel like this weeks luck for me has managed to keep me positive with having no income any more (placement is over now) and my arse is still all over the shop, along with general shit that never feels like its going my way haha lolz.

So yes. I am going to the Ashes on Friday and I am so fucking excited I can't cope! As long as it doesn't rain like a bitch and we don't fuck up like at lords. When this post goes up it will be exactly a month until I am 22 and I will be in New York. Holy Shit. I genuinely can't believe that is happening to little old me yet.

So there we have it, possibly the worst blog post ever but I think my 'message' is to stay positive in your life because you never know if you have some luck coming your way.

Big love,

Hev

Rainy July Makeup

Sexy can't be arsed to dry or brush my hair look

My god it is miserable outside

I thought we were in the middle of the summer as it is July but apparently not *all of the sad faced emojis* so I thought I would show you my "summer July" makeup but is really something trying to cling onto summer (in the base) but feels all wintery (the lips).

Let's have a chat about me face then shall we?
Base: Bobbi Brown BB cream: love it, wish it came lighter in shade. Yes you can see 3 concealers there.
Collection lasting perfection, I don't need to really speak about this, I have the same option as 97% of the rest of the population LOVE IT.
Collection illuminating pen thing, not sure what it does but I don't think it illuminates but my circles look slightly less dramatic afterwards so there is that.
The Lola concealer. I like its light colour and the coverage being lighter is nice but sometimes it cakes like a bitch around my eyes and won't stick to my nose so it's a how I'm feeling today concealer.
The M&S powder, I ruddy love to feel caked in powder (so sue me) and this gives me that, it also gives super light powder if you're one of them weirdos who doesn't like the powder feel *shudders*.
Illamasqua justify eye shadow as my contour, still not impressed that the colour has significantly changed from my last pot of justify but w.e. the finale of the base being good old Mary louminizer. Bloody love it.

The rest of the face. Illamasqua justify washed all over me eyelids and some horrifically applied L'Oreal colour riche eye liner which I got free with my mascara at duty free (win). Then I slathered a gazillion layers of my darling never beaten never replaced volume millions excess heaven on my eyelashes. My lippy lips have Revlon colour burst matte balm in 225 sultry sulfureuse (is that even a word?).

Someone sort my eyebrows out asap

So there you have it, I'm only off to Sainsbury's in this but whatever, it's the thought that counts.

Lots of love,

Hev

My Makeup Desk

I have been trying my damnedest to get my desk to be where I want it for ages, I've never been happy with the storage or layout or decorations for years now, but I think I have finally found my stride. I only finished the desk 10 minutes ago but I am now completely bleeding besotted.

I have way too much stuff to store now that I am back from uni, and when Momma bear suggested popping to IKEA I was obviously going to pop along with her.

Most of the desk is from IKEA (99% of it) so I thought I would do a little picture run down. When I finally find my ideal camera to record things on I plan to resurge the short lived YouTube career of 17 year old me (if you want a laugh I suggest you click here: https://www.youtube.com/user/heveewoohoo )  and I will endeavour to mash up some form of poorly edited make up collection video!

So the desk is a very old IKEA one and I guesstimate that it is a Malm, there are so many desk options there so there will be a desk to suit everyone! The desk topper I got yesterday from IKEA, it's called the Alex and was £35, and I put it up all by myself!

The radio is from Argos years ago and is currently playing me all the best of Heart FM, the flowers and pot IKEA, lamp IKEA, the jar I keep my cotton pads in I think was 80p from IKEA which is a massive bargain and the 21 cup was for my 21st burrrrfday from my friends mommy.

The middle section has candles from IKEA (do I have the earnings or the botherance for anything more fancy? No I do not.) The mirror you can get from any decent cheapo shop, the other plant pot is from IKEA holding my brushes, and underneath I have anything from eyelashes to sun cream.

The end section: the tea light holder was £2 from IKEA and the red candle also IKEA. The little shelf was £2 from IKEA, I also put that together myself and is great for adding more space into your desk. The lipstick holder was from Amazon and I found it by searching lipstick holders and it was one of the first options. I would look at other sellers of the same model to see if they provide free p&p!

Mind the vodka but in these drawers I keep my make up which will turn up in the aforementioned make up video soon! The black drawers basically hold electronic chargers and the St Moritz self tan I am far too scared to use!

My final section of my desk has my shelves. Again these were from IKEA. The lights were £3 and the frames were again from IKEA. Also up there are my perfumes, cute picture of little old tiny me and my coke bottle with Heather on it! The Adidas box holds my photos to put on my wall at uni.

Inside the two tiny drawers are boring things like medicine and prescription sunglasses ;)

I hope this has given some ideas to anyone completely stuck in a desk rut!

Hope to catch you again soon,

Love,

Hev

Hospital 2 Weeks On- Excision of Pilonidal Sinus Surgery

Me two weeks on look how perky I am!

Hi guys. Sorry I've been slightly out of action but you can probably guess from the title it's about my time from my hospital part deux post and today, which is 2 weeks. A lot has changed in the last two weeks regarding my wound of doom so I thought I would give some low down.
Pilonidal sinuses are pretty tricky bitches to deal with, the surgeon has to cut quite the chunk out of your arse to get rid of it and make sure it stays gone. You then have to live off codeine and lie on your side for what feels like eternity! But alas, it apparently gets slightly better.
I've had a slightly bumpy ride with this but I feel like my healing is finally on track. I never managed to go home like I wanted to get served black tea and toast on a silver platter as I was stuck going to the hospital every day to get packed up.
I am still going to the hospital every day as my stitches failed. There was a 50% chance of this happening and I knew that but when you're that uncomfortable and that out of your tits on codeine it's still a blow and I ended up sat in my car crying my eyes out on the phone to my mom after they told me the one had failed. I had 3 outer stitches in all together and the final one was taken out yesterday. The first last week when it was sat there doing nothing and the second on Thursday when again it was clinging onto nothing. The final one was taken out yesterday on its actual due date but again hasn't done much.

Packing the original drain hole was pretty painless to begin with and I thought this is fine I can do this! Packing my 2cm deep hole right across my stiches however not so pleasant, it's like 15 seconds of painful pressure depending on the nurse and how they do it, they all have their own techniques. I know that I am incredibly lucky to only have a 2cm deep hole when horrendously and unbelievably some people are cursed with 7cm and more holes to pack :(. I currently get packed with some Aqua based packing with seaweed in it instead of the sorbisan I was originally on which seems to work well and turns to jelly when it absorbs ya leakage! I am then getting the wound covered with opsite bandages which are great but horrendously, horrendously sticky (get your nurse to get hold of pure acetone to combat this!). My leakage has reduced dramatically now which is making me feel more confident about the wound.

Current pain is not too bad, I am finally coming off codeine and have managed 2 free days from it which is heaven for my anal muscles let me tell you. I don't know whether I mentioned in my previous hospital post that this shit backs you up like no ones business and trying to get one out is what probably split my stiches (woo). I have 2 paracetamols before I drive and it's pretty ok then. I have gone back to work. I went back 6 days after my op and to be honest it was probably a couple of days too soon. I was emotionally and physically exhausted from siting at my desk and doing relatively nothing! I was given a 3 week sick note but I think that for me would have been too long. I had a full week at work this week and it's been getting better since I changed what chair to sit on (wheely office chairs out). Driving hasn't been horrendous but pot holes are nasty and I've learnt to lift my bum up slightly to avoid the impact.

I'm going to add a picture of the wound down below and if you don't want to see as it is a bit grim (my sister refuses to look) then this will be the end of the post for you and I hope this has shed some useful light onto this!)

Now then the top image is from a week after surgery and the bottom was taken yesterday.

The bottom picture looks worse right? Well wrong. It's finally healing! Apparently the pink is my skin healing. What does look bizzare however is my drain hole (the bottom hole) is now careering into the stitches hole to make one big ass hole which is annoying and has been pulling and so friggin painful but hopefully after that it should all heal properly from the inside out.

I hope this hasn't made you feel too sick but it's nice to talk about this in my own safe space! I'm back off to the hospital in a sec to go get packed again, wild Saturday's all round!

Hope you have a lovely day,

Love, Hev
